Birding in Uplands Park – Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015

David Newell invites birders to the next Friends of Uplands Park Bird walk:

Hello Friends of Uplands Park:
Geoffrey’s next birding is on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015. Please meet at 9:00
a.m. in the large parking lot out at the end of Cattle Point. Uplands
Park is at the north end of Willlows Beach in Oak Bay. After
observing seabirds and shorebirds, we will head into the park.

Interestingly, we had 82 species in Oak Bay on the Christmas Bird
Count, last Dec. 20. The previous record was 76! Of note was a Red Knot amongst 525 Dunlin
and 235 Black-Bellied Plovers, an Evening Grosbeck and 4 Brant. The
Red Knot was the second ever during the Victoria CBC!

If you want to join in the next CBC on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, please let
Geoffrey [dnewell350@gmail.com] know at this email.
