Thanks to Tagg Casey and Wiley Thomas for sending photos from the September 14, 2014 Friends of Uplands Park Spider Websites Program. Spider Websites host, Margaret Lidkea, offered many activities and shared her expert knowledge, and delighted, inspired and educated the 35 participants, of all ages. And the weather that afternoon, at Uplands Park, was great spiderweb weather. Even a pet tarantula, courtesy of Swan Lake, made an appearance. Thanks also to volunteers who helped out at this event.

Friends of Uplands Bird Walk- Saturday, September 13, 2014 [9:00AM]

News from Dave Newell:

On Saturday, Sept 13, Geoffrey Newell will be leading the Friends of Uplands Park Bird Walk. Please meet at 9:00 a.m. in the large parking lot out at the end of Cattle Point. Uplands Park is at the north end of Willows Beach in Oak Bay, on Beach Drive. After observing sea and shore birds, we will head inland into the park to observe the many fall migrants: Uplands Park being a very good spot to find them. Geoffrey found a rare American Redstart there just last week near the dead giant Garry Oak on the north side of the central meadow.
